The mission statement of Modern Day Black Momma® Records is to inspire people to push through adversity, reclaim their lives after trauma, and embrace their authentic selves. Through writing, speaking engagements, and poetry instruction, the brand encourages individuals, particularly women, to transform their pain into purpose, advocate for themselves and to grow into better versions of their past selves. Empowering transformations by first finding purpose for life, in personal growth, career development (balance in work life), health and wellness, relationships, spiritual growth, financial stability, overcoming trauma, building resilience and perserverance, through storytelling by the power of creative writing in poetry (a written form of expression), spoken word (performance based), music (spoken word adding supporting musical elements such as: instrumentation, harmony, and melody to convey a greater depth of meaning and emotion) and of course, advocacy. Never forget where you came from and remember to advocate for others who still struggle in areas others have overcome.
